I have had a pair of these for about ten years and recently caught them on a protruding object and ripped them so a new pair it was, They are breathable. certainly waterproof and quite strong,They have an added bonus of the ankle zips.
I'm 5'9" and just on 12st with a 30" inside leg and the small size is perfect for me.
